Supplier monitoring with AI
Initial situation
For many companies, a good and functioning relationship with their suppliers is essential. This also applies to Wilhelm Vogel GmbH Antriebstechnik, where a large number of deliveries and suppliers have to be monitored and managed on a daily basis. For this purpose, quality indicators were introduced, which were previously evaluated on a quarterly and selective basis. However, this is often not sufficient to identify quality deficits and trends as early as possible and to take quality assurance measures in advance.
Procedure
Two approaches were pursued in the joint quick check:
On the one hand, statistical analyses of historical order and quality data were carried out. The aim was to obtain meaningful indicators for deriving quality indicators that can be used at an early stage.
Secondly, various concepts for compiling and effectively displaying information in Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards were implemented.
Result
As part of the Quick Check, various correlations were specifically examined in the form of hypotheses, e.g:
In each case, differentiated deductions could be made that shed more light on the purchasing process. However, it also became clear that there is a lot of knowledge on the part of the buyer that cannot be fully read from the data. This information was aggregated in BI dashboards and illustrated which additional information is relevant for monitoring and what added value it can offer.
