When visiting the website

You can access our website without having to disclose any information about your identity. The browser used on your device only automatically sends information to the server of our website (e.g. browser type and version, date and time of access) to enable the website to establish a connection. This also includes the IP address of your requesting device. This is temporarily stored in a log file and deleted after 30 days at the latest.

When registering for events

We regularly offer a wide range of events via our website, for which you can register online. Depending on the purpose and focus, personal data such as name, address, e-mail address or payment data may be collected and processed.

In the data protection information for the respective event, we inform you about the categories of personal data to be processed, the legal basis for processing, the storage period and any transfers to service providers who process your data on our behalf.

When registering for a newsletter or other e-mail distribution list

If you have expressly consented in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR, we will use your e-mail address to regularly send you selected information that will inform you about the work at our institute and/or about other Fraunhofer e.V. institutions and/or events. The topics and content of the selected information are determined by the mailing list for which you have registered.

After your registration, you will receive a registration notification by e-mail, which you must confirm in order to receive the newsletter (so-called double opt-in). This serves as proof for us that the registration was actually initiated by you.

Your e-mail address will be deleted immediately after you withdraw your consent to receive the newsletter.

When using contact forms

We offer you the opportunity to contact us via a form provided on the website. The following information is mandatory:

  • First and last name and
  • E-mail address.

We need your data to determine who sent the request and to be able to answer and process it.

The data processing is carried out in response to your request and is based on our legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR in the context of responding to a contact request.

The personal data collected by us for the use of the contact form will be deleted after your request has been dealt with.

If we pass on personal data that we collect via the website to processors, we will inform you of this in this data protection information for the respective data processing operation, naming the specific recipient.

Otherwise, we will only pass on your personal data if

  • you have given your express consent to this in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR;
  • this is necessary pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b GDPR for the fulfillment of a contract with you (for example, when passing on to shipping companies for the purpose of delivering the goods you have ordered or when passing on payment data to payment service providers or credit institutions in order to carry out a payment transaction);
  • there is a legal obligation for the disclosure pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. c GDPR.

The forwarded data may only be used by the recipients for the stated purposes.

General information

We use cookies on our website. Cookies are small files that your browser automatically creates and that are stored on your end device (laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.) when you visit our website. Cookies do not cause any damage to your end device and do not contain any viruses, Trojans or other malware.

LeadLab (Wiredminds GmbH)

On our website, we use the LeadLab service of the Wiredminds GmbH and its pixel-code technology to analyze usage behavior and to optimize our site based on this. In particular, the service allows us to recognize which companies have visited our site. We do not receive any information that directly identifies you.

In connection with the use of LeadLab, cookies and tracking pixels are used to enable a statistical analysis of the use of this website by your visits. The information is processed by Wiredminds using a pseudonym in a user profile for the purpose of analysis and anonymized as far as possible.

Data processing is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR for the purpose of optimizing our online offer and our website. Wiredminds processes the data on our behalf on the basis of an order processing contract between us and Wiredminds. Matomo

On our website, we use the open source software Matomo from InnoCraft Ltd from New Zealand to analyze user behavior during visits to our site and to optimize our site and its content accordingly. We do not receive any information that directly identifies you.

In the version of Matomo we use, precautions are taken using DoNotTrack technology (see www.donottrack.us) with the result that your website visit is not recorded if you have indicated in your Internet browser settings that you do not wish to be tracked.

In connection with the use of Matomo, cookies are used that enable a statistical analysis of the use of this website by your visits. Information - including personal information - about your visitor behavior is stored in the cookie and processed using a pseudonym in a usage profile for the purpose of analysis. As Matomo is hosted on our own server, processing by third parties is not required for the analysis.

The data processing of the data obtained through cookies and other web analysis/tracking procedures is based on our legitimate interest in optimizing our online offer and our website presence, e.g. in the form of adaptation to frequently used end devices and browsers, more publications on particularly popular topics (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR). Processing takes place within the scope of the GDPR (EU/EEA). There is no transfer to third countries.

We use social media buttons (also known as social media plugins) on our website. These are small buttons that you can use to publish content from our website on social networks under your profile.

If you activate such a button, a connection is established between our website and the social network. In addition to the relevant content, the operator of the social network receives further information, some of which is personal. This includes, for example, the fact that you are currently visiting our site.

The social media buttons are integrated using the so-called Shariff solution. This solution prevents a connection to a social network from being established simply because you access a page with a social media button without activating it. - in accordance with Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR, to withdraw your consent once given to us at any time. As a result, we may no longer continue the data processing that was based on this consent in the future;
- in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR, to request information about your personal data processed by us. In particular, you can request information about the processing purposes, the category of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom your data has been or will be disclosed, the planned storage period, the existence of a right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing or objection, the existence of a right to lodge a complaint, the origin of your data if it was not collected by us, and the existence of automated decision-making including profiling and, if applicable, meaningful information about its details;
- in accordance with Art. 16 GDPR, to immediately request the correction of incorrect or incomplete personal data stored by us;
- in accordance with Art. 17 GDPR, to demand the deletion of your personal data stored by us, unless the processing is necessary to exercise the right to freedom of expression and information, to fulfill a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest or to assert, exercise or defend legal claims;
- in accordance with Art. 18 GDPR, to demand the restriction of the processing of your personal data if the accuracy of the data is disputed by you, the processing is unlawful but you refuse to delete it and we no longer need the data, but you need it to assert, exercise or defend legal claims or you have lodged an objection to the processing in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR;
- in accordance with Art. 20 GDPR, to receive your personal data that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format or to request that it be transmitted to another controller, and
- to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in accordance with Art. 77 GDPR. As a rule, you can contact the supervisory authority at your usual place of residence or workplace or at our registered office.

Information about your right to object in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR

You have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to processing of personal data concerning you which is based on point (e) of Article 6(1) GDPR (data processing in the public interest) and point (f) of Article 6(1) GDPR (data processing on the basis of a balancing of interests); this also applies to profiling based on this provision in accordance with Article 4(4) GDPR.

If you object, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.

If you object to the processing of data for the purpose of direct marketing, we will cease processing immediately. In this case, it is not necessary to specify a particular situation. This also applies to profiling insofar as it is associated with such direct advertising.

All data transmitted by you personally is encrypted using the common and secure TLS (Transport Layer Security) standard. TLS is a secure and proven standard that is also used for online banking, for example. We also use suitable technical and organizational security measures to protect your data against accidental or intentional manipulation, partial or complete loss, destruction or unauthorized access by third parties. Our security measures are continuously improved in line with technological developments.
