A central focus of the AI Innovation Center is direct cooperation with industrial companies: Feasibility studies (Quick Checks) and projects to develop initial prototypes (Exploring Projects) of AI applications. In addition, consortium projects and innovation networks are aimed at cross-company exchange.

Following the successful completion of the pilot phase, the KIRR Real project was integrated into and expanded within the AI Advancement Center. This expands the cooperation offerings to include regulatory analyses (Legal Quick Checks). AI agent system for scheduling

An AI-based agent system optimizes therapy appointment scheduling in a rehabilitation clinic by considering complex constraints such as sequences, resources, and even distribution of applications. Particularly innovative is the ability to add new requirements via natural language as modular rules, which keeps the scheduling flexibly and efficiently adaptable.

In the sharing economy, efficient returns pose a major challenge. This can be largely automated through the use of AI.

AI-based print image control for effervescent tablet tubes at Jaco

The project developed an AI-based, reliable and fully automated solution for print image monitoring. This reduces false alarms by an average of 85.7% through anomaly detection.

AI-based appointment optimization by predicting appointment bookings, no-shows and cancellations

An AI prototype uses traffic light logic to suggest the preferred time slots for scheduling appointment requests in order to achieve the most efficient capacity utilization possible. This is based on past appointment data and takes into account no-shows and appointment cancellations.

AI bending tool selection

Creation of a labeled data set for the regression of quality parameters with a neural network. AI-supported tool selection and automated machine parameterization enable efficient, low-disruption production and shorter delivery times.

AI-supported evaluation of 3D point clouds of high-voltage switchgear

The quality of the scanned point clouds is crucial for the creation of digital twins for high-voltage switchgear. By using AI methods, the point clouds can be evaluated automatically.

AI industrialization support for galvanic processes

In the introduction of a new Cr(III)-based electroplating hard chrome plating process, machine learning is used to analyse complex process relationships and accelerate industrialization. The aim is to increase the efficiency and quality of the process by accurately predicting the electrolyte composition.

AI Competence in Customer Support

In the project, potentials for the use of AI in customer service were identified and prioritized to sustainably increase service efficiency through forward-looking planning, intelligent automation, and improved information utilization. Based on a structured analysis, concrete implementation concepts are being developed for the three most promising use cases: social workforce planning, predictive maintenance, and an AI-powered assistance system.

The initiative offers companies support in the sustainable integration of AI, promotes the exchange of experience and develops concrete solutions for optimizing operational processes with the help of AI technologies.

As part of the Quick Check, existing approaches to efficient surgery planning and patient appointments were improved with as little waiting time as possible.
